Tyvek® by DuPont™
Paper – Tyvek® (Soft Structure: Type 14)
Description
Tyvek® is a 100% synthetic non-woven material made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) spunbound fibres. It combines the performance of paper, film and fabric which makes Tyvek® ideal and durable for a wide variety of applications. It is lightweight, durable yet resistant to water, abrasion, bacterial penetration and ageing. There are two types of Tyvek® material depending on its bonding process – Soft Structure (textile-like) and Hard Structure (paper-like). The Soft Structure Type 14 is soft, fabric-like and drapeable. This material can be used when barrier, durability and breathability are required. Tyvek® was first discovered in 1955 when DuPont researcher Jim White made a chance discovery in the experimental lab. It is lightweight, 100% recyclable, tear-resistant, water and chemical resistant, breathable, printable and weather-proof.
