Terrazzo

Description

Terrazzo is a type of flooring material consisting of chips of decorative stones such as marble, quartz, granite or other forms of recycled glass and is binded using a cement or epoxy-based binder to set in place. It is usually polished to give a smooth surface to be used for walls or flooring purposes. The origins of Terrazzo can be traced as far back as ancient Egypt. During the 1500s, Terrazzo was created when Venetian mosaic workers discovered a way to reuse marble remnants as they began to build terraces around their living quarters.
