    matlab is a material platform providing users access and knowledge of materials for practitioners within the field of architecture, design, art, fashion and beyond. We are an ever expanding online material database and material library with a diverse range of materials – all sourced globally and regionally within Southeast Asia.

    We also offer a flexible franchising and advisory program for firms and studios of various scales customized based on different practices and material needs. Regardless of industry and space constraints, we provide consultation services to help materialize your very own material library.

  • What are the types of materials that matlab carries?

    Our material database consists of everyday building materials with specialized focus on innovative and sustainable materials. Our materials are all sourced from manufacturers and suppliers globally and regionally within Southeast Asia. We carry 14 category of materials with over 500+ different types of unique materials from Stones, Concrete, Tiles, Wood, Glass, Plastic, Metal, Textiles, Wall & Ceiling Finishes, Floor Finishes, Roofing Finishes, Laminates, Organic Matters and Recycled Materials.

  • Why is there a need for matlab?

    We advocate for a new way of thinking about materials at matlab. We want our users to look at materials beyond its common usage as construction materials and to expand its usage into other fields. Our platform aims to help democratize the accessibility of materials by bridging our network of trusted suppliers, manufacturers and artisans to a wider range of users.

  • Where is matlab located?

    Visit us here. Our material library is located in APW, Bangsar (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) occupying a shared space with our design studio, POW Ideas.

  • What are the opening hours of matlab?

    Our material library opens every Wednesday and Friday from 1PM to 4PM, closes on weekends and public holidays. Our online material platform runs virtually 24/7.

    • All users must arrive on-time for their appointment to avoid further delay of subsequent appointment slots.
    • The 1-DAY Pass is chargeable per pax and duration of each appointment is 1-hour long.
    • If a longer session is needed, extended appointments are chargeable by the hour.
